Ava and Jacob’s Zion Springs Wedding: It Started With Their Dads

Ava smiles while Jacob leans close during an outdoor wedding portrait.

Ava and Jacob’s story starts with two college friends. Their dads.

They met at West Virginia University, joined the same fraternity, and became good friends. And they stayed friends. Through getting older, getting married, and raising families of their own, they kept showing up in each other’s lives.

Their families even vacationed together. That’s where Ava and Jacob first met, long before either of them knew where this was going.

Years later, Jacob recognized Ava at a college party. A familiar face turned into a new connection, and that’s where their relationship began.

Then came the phone calls. Ava called her dad to tell him she had met Jacob again and they were going on a date. Her dad called Jacob’s dad to share the news.

Ava’s dad joked about the way the two dads had acted in college and hoped Jacob wasn’t taking after them. That part of the story made me laugh. Your daughter calls with news about a date, and suddenly your own college years are relevant again.

On September 19, 2026, Ava and Jacob got married at Zion Springs in Loudoun County, Virginia. The friendship their dads started at WVU had become part of a much bigger family story.

The people are part of the story

Knowing that history gives these wedding photographs another layer. The people around Ava and Jacob matter to the story just as much as the place or the details.

There’s a photograph from a First Look with Ava reflected in the mirror and her mom and sister’s smiling faces beside it. Then there’s the embrace by the window.

Outside, her bridesmaids react to seeing her in her dress, with hands over mouths and smiles all the way across the group.

Bridesmaids in chocolate brown dresses smile and react as Ava stands above them on the steps.

Those are the photographs I keep coming back to. A dress can tell you what someone wore. A reaction tells you something about what it meant to the people who were there.

The chocolate brown bridesmaid dresses and soft white bouquets looked beautiful together. But the faces are what make those frames worth lingering over.

A little room for just the two of them

The portraits bring a quieter feeling into the gallery. Ava smiling with Jacob close beside her. A kiss on the forehead among the trees. The two of them walking hand in hand, and an embrace on the wooden bridge.

I love having that range in a wedding gallery. There’s room for a beautiful portrait, a little movement, and the way two people look at each other when they’re close.

All those people, in one place

At Zion Springs, the outdoor ceremony brought everyone together with green hills and trees all around.

From that wider view, I come back to the expressions between Ava and Jacob.

Then they’re coming back up the aisle with their arms raised and their guests applauding.

The big group photograph belongs in this story, too. With a history that stretches back to their dads’ college days, there’s something especially fitting about seeing Ava and Jacob surrounded by everyone who came to celebrate them.

And then the party

Inside Zion Springs, the cake, warm wood, and glowing lights set the scene for the reception.

Then it was time for the dance floor. A kiss between Ava and Jacob, Ava laughing during a dance, and Jacob smiling through one of his own.

And once the party got going, there was a microphone in the middle of the crowd, bottles raised, and guests fully getting into it.

The bouquet catch has its own great reaction. So does the black-and-white frame of a guest pointing straight toward my camera. These are the little bits of personality I want couples to have alongside the big moments.

And at the end of the gallery, Ava and Jacob walk out together through the sparklers.

From their dads’ friendship at WVU, to shared family vacations, to recognizing each other at a college party. There was a lot of history before this wedding day. I love that their photographs now get to be part of it.
